What is Google Chrome?

Google Chrome is a web browser used to access the Internet. In addition, it has useful features that allow you to sync bookmarks, passwords, and extensions between any device that uses Chrome.

Why is this a great tool?

Google Chrome is a great tool because it works so well with many of the G Suite tools we use everyday such as Google Drive, Docs, and Slides. In addition, Chrome extensions are very useful little tools that you can install to help you.

How do I use it?

You can install Google Chrome from Self Service if it has not already been installed on your MacBook.

Sign in if you want your data to be saved to your Google account. Doing so will allow you to access your bookmarks, passwords, extensions, and browser history on any device that you sign into Chrome with your email account.

Creating a bookmark for Chrome is an easy way to make shortcuts to websites that you visit most often or want to save for later use. Making a bookmark will put the site near the top of your browser window so you are just one click away from accessing it. This area is called the bookmark bar.

By default, your bookmarks bar is not displayed in Chrome. To show your bookmarks bar at all times, click on the three dots in the upper right corner, hover over "Bookmarks," and select the option to "Show Bookmarks Bar."

Chrome Extensions can be installed on your device. These little applications are extremely useful. They can block ads on Youtube, create screen recording videos, and so much more. Once installed, they are displayed next to the address bar. For a list of useful Chrome Extensions that we recommend, click here.
